Joe Carbone

Joe Carbone enters his 13th season as head coach of the SUNY Canton baseball program during the 2021-22 academic year.

Carbone earned his 100th career win when the Roos defeated Maine Presque Isle 6-3 on March 23rd, 2019. 

Carbone and assistant Vic Rivera were key to the creation of the inaugural Clemente Cup in Puerto Rico to open the 2016 season, a tournament named after the late Roberto Clemente. 

Carbone led the Roos to a program record 15 wins during the 2014 season that included five straight victories. During 2015 the team won 14 games while finishing in fourth place in the inaugural Empire 8 Tournament after coming in seeded seventh. 

Carbone has been named the Sunrise Conference Coach of the Year two times. He has served as president of the Knapps Station Baseball Program in Norfolk for the past 15 years. In that capacity he has recruited, trained, and coached youth teams, coordinated fundraising efforts and scheduling, and conducted numerous clinics throughout the area.

Carbone has also been the assistant coach with the Norwood-Norfolk Central School varsity baseball team for two years and has worked at the Youth Summer Baseball Camp at Clarkson University for nine years.

Carbone earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Canton and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Plattsburgh State and is a retired corrections officer.
