Olds Leads Roos at Cobleskill Invitational

(Cobleskill, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s and women's cross country teams ran in the Stephen A. Warde Invitational at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday.

The women’s team, who posted an incomplete team score, was led by Vickie Olds (Bronx, N.Y.) who came in 83rd place in a time of 24:45 in the 5K race.

Kristie Melven (Attica, N.Y.) was the next highest finisher for the Roos as she placed 94th in a time of 26:45. Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) followed in a time of 27:12 and Katelyn Anthony (Spencerport, N.Y.) recorded a time of 28:04.

On the men's side the Roos came in seventh out of 12 teams with 252 points.

Rochester Institute of Technology won the team championship with 16 points as the Tigers took the top four individual slots and six of the top eight. RIT also won the women's overall championship.

Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.) led the Roos with a 29th place finish out of 138 runners. The freshman posted a time of 30:02 in the 8K race.

Byron Danis (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.) followed in 64th place in a time of 32:34. Joel Landry (Malone, N.Y.) came in 84th place in a time of 34:07. Rounding out the Roos was Shawn Wakefield (Cohoes, N.Y.) (36:39), Tyler Morse (North Creek, N.Y.) (38:12), and Bradley Hamilton (Salem, N.Y.) (40:37).

SUNY Canton will next run in the prestigious Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University on Sat. Sept. 19.

Men's Ice Hockey
Dave is honored this week after netting three goals in a 7-1 win over Canisius College on Jan. 27.

The freshman forward leads the Roos in goals (24) and hat tricks with three.
Elissa St. Germain
Women's Basketball
Elissa gets the nod as Roo of the Week after two solid road performances.

The freshmn notched her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-35 win over Vermont Technical College.  Elissa canned 8 of 10 free throws and also had two assists in the victory.  She also had three points and three rebounds the day before against the University of Maine at Augusta.
