(Rochester, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's basketball team kicked off their season Friday night with an 88-42 loss at Roberts Wesleyan College.
Senior Tony Valentin (Calcium, N.Y.), a first team all-Sunrise Conference selection last year and the Roos leading scorer, scored a team-high 14 points and snagged seven rebounds.
SUNY Canton trailed 49-18 at halftime and struggled to get going offensively as they shot just 21 percent from the floor and committed 17 turnovers.
Senior Tony Parker (Sodus, N.Y.) added 10 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) had 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Dan Foley led Roberts Wesleyan with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell Fraser added 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists and Rashaad Stokelin chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.
