Roos Dropped by Hamilton 89-56 in Tip Off Tournament

(Clinton, N.Y.)- Hamilton College closed the first half on a big run to pull away to an 89-56 win over SUNY Canton in the first round of the Hamilton Tip-Off Tournament in Clinton. The Roos (1-4) will play Keystone College in the consolation game on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Giants lost to Ursinus College 85-83 on a basket in the closing seconds of the game.

SUNY Canton trailed 11-10 with 12:15 left in the first half but then watched the Continentals reel off a 31-14 run to open a 42-24 lead at halftime. Hamilton kept the lead in double digits for the rest of the game.

Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) scored 17 points and grabbed two rebounds for the Roos.

Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) added 11 points and three rebounds off the bench. Jajuan Williams (Jacksonville, N.C.) had 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists and Tony Parker (Sodus, N.Y.) added nine points and four boards.

Pat Sullivan led the Continentals with 18 points. Sullivan shot 7 for 10 from the field and also had four rebounds. Eric Benvenuti contributed 15 points and six rebounds.
