Roos Trounce Norwich 8-1

(Canton, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton bounced back from a tough loss on Saturday to trounce Norwich University 8-1 in the consolation game of the Terry Martin / SUNY Canton Pride's Corner Tournament at the Canton Pavilion.

The Roos, who lost in overtime to John Carroll University in the first round, scored three goals in both the second and third periods to beat the Cadets.

The game was physical as both teams were whistled for a combined 29 penalties, 17 of those going against Norwich. The Roos capitilized with the man advantage as they scored five power play goals on Sunday.

Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored two goals to lead the Roos, who moved to 9-8 overall. The Cadets are now 3-5.

John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.), Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.), Cory Bercume (Potsdam, N.Y.), and Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) each had a goal and an assist.

Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) and Kristian Daley (Canton, N.Y.) also scored for the Roos. Mike Pearman (Columbus, Ind.) had three assists and Chris Ciczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif. ) and Corey Frizell (Orleans, Ontario) added two assist apiece.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.Y.) won his ninth game stopping 15 of 16 shots.

James Plamondon scored the Cadets lone goal and Stefan Wuorinen had 23 saves.
