Men's Basketball Holds Off College of St. Joseph 73-69

(Rutland, Vt.)- Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) led four players in double figures with 26 points as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team beat the College of St. Joseph 73-69 in a Sunrise Conference game Sunday afternoon in Rutland, Vt.  The Roos evened their conference mark at 1-1 and improved to 3-9 overall.  The Fighting Saints fell to 1-4 and 5-13.

The game was tied 33-33 at halftime but thanks to 57 percent shooting in the second half the Roos were able to come away with a split on the weekend.

Valentin, who is second in the conference in scoring, was 5-for-8 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. 

Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) added 17 points, four assists and two steals.  Tony Park (Sodus, N.Y.) (above) notched his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 boards and Jajuan Williams (Jacksonville, N.C.) contributed 12 points and nine assists.

The Fighting Saints were led by Brad Drysdale who had 22 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.  Doug Childs added 20 points and three rebounds.
