Women's Volleyball Returns to SUNY Canton

(Canton, N.Y.) - Women's volleyball is returning to SUNY Canton.  The athletic department recently announced that they are re-instating the program for the fall 2011 season.
Former Syracuse University assistant coach Carol LaMarche has been tabbed to lead the rebuilding effort.  LaMarche also played at Syracuse and is currently third in the school record books with 3.49 kills per game.

SUNY Canton's last volleyball season was in 2007, a season that saw the Roos win the Sunrise Conference championship and advance to the NAIA national tournament.  That same season, Dana Hall, the former home of the Roos, was shut down due to structural damage in the gymnasium and the College began construction of a new $40 million convocation, athletic and recreation center that is slated to open in the spring of 2011.  The new facility will house a field house with a synthetic floor and a hard court at one end where the Roos will play their home games.

SUNY Canton will once again compete for the Sunrise Conference championship in 2011 and LaMarche is currently building a competitive non-conference schedule.
