Men's Ice Hockey Rallies to Beat Syracuse 4-3 in OT in ECHL Tournament

(Rochester, N.Y.)- The top-seeded SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team rallied to beat No. 6 Syracuse University 4-3 in overtime on Saturday in the semifinals of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League tournament at the Genesee Valley Ice Arena in Rochester, N.Y.  The Roos won their ninth straight game improving to 19-10.  They'll face No. 2 Robert Morris University (Pa.) in the championship game on Sunday.

The Orange raced out to a 3-0 lead on the Roos on Saturday scoring twice in the first period and once more in the second.

Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) finally stopped the run at the 3:21 mark of the second period.  John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.) trimmed the lead to 3-2 scoring 1:55 into the third period and then Jeremiah Hardin (Alpharetta, Ga.) tied the game and sent it into overtime scoring with 2:35 left in regulation.

Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) then sent the Roos into the final game scoring a power play goal at the 9:58 mark of overtime.

Brad Wilson (Ottawa, Ontario) added two assists for the Roos.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 25 saves for SUNY Canton and Andrew Collinham had 34 for Syracuse.
