Morley and Shoen Honored by Sunrise Conference

(Canton, N.Y.)-Junior forward Teresa Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and freshman guard Abbey Shoen (Waddington, N.Y.) have each been recognized by the Sunrise Conference.  Morley was named the Player of the Week in women's basketball and Shoen earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Morley is honored after turning in two solid defensive games this past weekend.  She scored 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, made three steals and blocked one shot leading the Roos past the College of St. Joseph 69-49.  Against Fisher College on Saturday Morley snagged nine rebounds to go along with four points, four steals and two blocks in a 57-48 win.

Shoen averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the weekend.  She had 11 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists against St. Joseph and eight points on 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line, four steals, three assists and two rebounds against Fisher.

Morley and Shoen are fifth and sixth on the team in scoring respectively.  Morley averages 6.7 a night and Shoen 5.9 and both are pulling in 5.5 rebounds a game.  Shoen also leads the team in assists (34) and steals (23).

Carolina Olivares
Softball
Carolina gets the nod after batting an impressive .882 in a four-game sweep of Vermont Technical College.  

The junior was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after she belted three doubles and two triples, drove in 15 runs and scored 10 times.  

She went 4-for-4 twice, the second time finishing with seven RBIs, and she had four hits in three out of the four games.

Olivares leads the conference batting .594.  She is second in triples (2), third in RBIs (16) and tied for fifth in doubles with three.

Baseball
Matthew receives the award after batting .667 in six games this week finishing with five RBIs and four runs.  

He was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in a 6-5 loss to St. Michael’s College.  He also went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs in an 8-5 win over Vermont Technical College.

In addition he struck out eight batters and allowed just five hits in another 11-1 win over the Green Knights.

Fallon is batting .393 with four doubles, a triple and five RBIs.  He's one of the top pitchers in the conference as he is second in both strikeouts (18) and opponents batting average (.234) and third in both earned-run average (6.04) and innings pitched (22.1).
