The men's ice hockey team got a big send off to the national tournament on Thursday

Saturday, March 6, 2 p.m. (EST) - No. 15 SUNY Canton (19-11) vs. No. 2 Penn State (26-3).

SUNY Canton: Adam Fedor (30 gms., 24 goals-26 assists, 50 pts), John Payne (29 gms., 15-25, 40), Corey Frizell (28 gms., 11-28, 39), Eric Cook (26 gms., 20-12, 32), Scott Zaryski (29 gms., 12-17, 29), Rob Liggio (26 gms., 10-19, 29), Mark Talamo (30 gms., 7-21, 28).

Penn State: Tim O'Brien (23 goals-21 assists, 44 points), Christopher Cerutti (20-19, 39), Ryan Paradis (9-25, 34), Dominic Morrone (14-19, 33), Nicolas Seravalli (17-15, 32).

Leading goaltenders:

SUNY Canton: Jimmy Merrow (27 gms., 16-11-0, 3.13 goals-against average, .890 save %, 1 shutout), Chris Lee (5 gms., 3-0, 1.92 gaa, .900 sv%).

Penn State: Edward Hume (27 gms., 18-1, 2.23 gaa, .890 sv%, 1 shutout).

Game notes: SUNY Canton is ranked No. 22 in the country and qualified for the tournament winning the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League regular season championship...The Roos are 19-11 and have won nine of their last 10 games.  Their loss came to Robert Morris University (Pa.) in the championship game of the ECHL tournament...This is SUNY Canton first trip to the national tournament in just their second year in the ACHA...Penn State, who won the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League, have won the national championship six times, including four straight years from 1999-2003.  They have also been runners-up seven times....SUNY Canton and Penn State each bring a potent offense into the national tournament...The Roos average 6.0 goals per game and are out shooting opponents 36.7 to 29.5...Penn State is outscoring opponents 5.9 to 2.5 per game...Both teams have lost just one time at home all season...SUNY Canton is 6-5 on the road and 2-5 at neutral sites...Penn State is 7-2 in road trips...Seven SUNY Canton players received postseason recognition from the ECHL...Senior defenseman Scott Zaryski was named to the all-ECHL First Team.  Junior forward Eric Cook was named to the Second Team.  Freshman defenseman Brad Wilson was named Rookie of the Year and made the all-rookie team along with freshman forward Corey Frizell.  Senior forward Mark Talamo, freshman forward John Payne and freshman defenseman Chris Giczewski were named ECHL Academic All-Stars...Saturday's be broadcast on FASTHockey, an on-line source for hockey broadcasts.  Go to http://www.achahockey.org/news2.php?news_id=246598&lang for details on how to view the game.  You must register for a free account and pay a fee to view the game.

Men's Cross Country
Jon had an impressive start to his collegiate career at SUNY Canton with a second place finish out of 91 runners at the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational.

The Queensbury, N.Y. native recorded a time of 20:18 in the 6K race and was named the Sunrise Conference Male Runner of the Week.

Women's Soccer

Ricci collected 15 saves in three games last week for the Roos.

The sophomore from Essex Junction, Vt. notched two saves in a 4-2 win over Cazenovia College, her first victory with the Roos.  She also had six saves against Clarkson University and seven against SUNYIT.
