Matt Myers blocks Vermont Tech's Joe Clough from scoring on Saturday
(Canton, N.Y.)-  The SUNY Canton baseball team received three strong pitching performances and pounded out 23 hits as they swept Vermont Technical College 11-1 and 8-5 Saturday afternoon in Canton.  The Roos moved to 2-4 in the Sunrise Conference and 2-11-1 overall.

Matthew Fallon (Pierrefonds, Quebec) struck out eight batters and allowed just five hits over six innings getting the win in the opener.  Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) got the win in the second game as he allowed seven hits and six walks with one strikeout in six innings.  Ricky Davidson (Ashburn, Va.) pitched a perfect seventh inning forcing the Green Knights into three straight ground outs to get the save.

SUNY Canton put up four runs in both the second and third innings of game one.  In the second, Jared Wallace (Canton, N.Y.) ripped a double and then he and Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) who was hit by a pitch, both scored off a two-run single from Bryan Duval (Norfolk, N.Y.) who also scored in the inning.  In the fourth inning Davidson delivered the big hit as he stroked a three-run triple that put the Roos ahead 7-1.

Darling finished 2-for-3 with a double and Matt Myers (Brandon, Vt.) and Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) each added a pair of singles.

Phil Eseppi went 1-for-3 with a run for Vermont Tech and Duncan Tilford surrendered 13 hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

In the second game, the Roos jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings with four runs in the second and three more in the third.  SUNY Canton tacked on one more run in the fourth inning when Myers tripled and scored on a ground out by Dominic Creazzo (Massena, N.Y.).

Vermont Tech clawed back with one run in the top half of the fifth and then four more on four hits in the top of the sixth.

After two groundouts to second and short in the top of the seventh, the final out was made by Darling as he charged a slow grounder off third, lost his balance, but recovered and made a strong throw to first to end the game.

Fallon finished 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and an RBI.  Wallace went 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBIs and Myers finished 2-for-4.

Andrew Whitney went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs to lead the Green Knights.  Ben Forant was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Reed Brown gave up 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
