(Presque Isle, Maine)-The SUNY Canton baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday as the Owls prevailed 9-7 and 8-4. The Roos fell to 3-10 in the conference and 3-21-1 overall.
In the first game, Matthew Fallon (Pierrefonds, Quebec) tossed a complete game for the Roos as he allowed 12 hits and six walks and struck out six in nine innings.
Dominic Creazzo (Massena, N.Y.) blasted a solo home run for SUNY Canton. Ben Rockwood (Gouverneur, N.Y.) added an RBI double and Michaele Zelyez (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) and Bryan Duval (Norfolk, N.Y.) each went 1-for-5.
Ian Towle got the win for the Owls as he scattered six hits over seven innings, allowed two walks and struck out two. Corey Harding, Jake Fillebrown and DJ Charette each added a double.
In the second game Josh Harvey (North Creek, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss as he gave up eight runs on nine hits with three walks in four innings. Josh Hartle (Harrisville, N.Y.) came on in relief and didn't allow a hit or a walk and struck out one in two innings of work.
Zelyez ripped three singles in the nightcap and scored twice. Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run.
Fillebrown threw a complete game for the Owls to get the win allowing just five hits and no walks with six strikeouts in seven innings. Harding smashed a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning and James Cirell contributed three singles.
