(Lynn, Mass.)- No. 3 SUNY Canton couldn't recover from a deflating loss Friday night as they fell to No. 4 Vermont Technical College 13-3 in seven innings Saturday in the second round of the Sunrise Conference baseball tournament at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.
The Roos were elimnated from the tournament as they dropped to 3-24-1. They'll wrap up their season on Tuesday at Oswego State.
SUNY Canton came out flat on Saturday after losing to the University of Maine at Presque Isle 7-6 in 11 innings as they committed two big errors in the second inning that led to four runs. The Green Knights lead eventually stretched to 9-0 and the offense was helped by a solid pitching performance from Jeff Savage who had 12 strikeouts in the game.
Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Roos.
Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) was 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run.
Matthew Fallon (Pierrefonds, Quebec) and
Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) also doubled for the Roos.
Josh Hartle (Harrisville, N.Y.) started on the mound for SUNY Canton and gave up four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
Josh Harvey (North Creek, N.Y.) allowed five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in three innings of relief.
Savage scattered eight hits and allowed just walks in the win. Garrick Cronin went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Phil Eseppi had three runs and two RBIs and Jordan Hodge went 2-for-4 with a run. The Green Knights play again on Saturday against the loser of No. 1 Fisher College and No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle.
