Carbone Named Coach of the Year; Six Baseball Players Honored by Sunrise Conference

(Canton, N.Y.)- First-year head coach Joe Carbone has been named the Coach of the Year in the Sunrise Conference in baseball and six of his players received postseason honors.

Carbone guided the Roos to a third-place finish in the Sunrise Conference in his first year at the helm.

Sophomore pitcher and first baseman Matthew Fallon (Pierrefonds, Quebec) and freshman catcher Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) each made the all-conference team.  Fallon was sixth in the conference in doubles (6) and 12th in RBIs (12).  He batted .400 and scored nine runs.  On the mound he was tied for first in strikeouts (37), third in innings pitched (40.2),  third in opponents batting average (.281), fifth in earned-run average (7.97) and seventh in walks allowed (37).  Darling batted .284 and was fourth in doubles (8), sixth in slugging percentage (.444) and ninth in runs scored (16).

Senior shortstop and pitcher Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.), junior outfielders Michael Zelyez (Brasher Falls, N.Y. ) and Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) and freshman second baseman Bryan Duval (Norfolk, N.Y.) each received a defensive Gold Glove award.

Zelyez posted a .964 fielding percentage committing just two errors in 56 chances.  Duval had a .961 fielding percentage with three errors in 76 chances.  Levy and Gronowski each had .955 fielding percentages as Levy committed two errors in 44 chances and Gronowski one error in 16 chances.
