(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's soccer team opened their season with a 2-0 loss to Clarkson University in Canton.

Both teams battled on a hot and muggy day with temperatures hovering in the upper 80s.  The Roos fought the heat and a strong Clarkson effort with a solid defensive effort of their own led by sophomore goalie Ricci Celia (Essex Junction, Vt.), a transfer from SUNY Plattsburgh, who had six saves in her debut for the Roos.

Alyssa Dausman opened the scoring for Clarkson in the seventh minute when she tallied an unassisted goal.  Linde Zajac made it 2-0 Golden Knights when she took a pass from Catlyn Hennessey just six minutes later.

The Roos hit the road this weekend to play in the D'Youville College tournament in Buffalo.  SUNY Canton plays the host Spartans Saturday night and then faces SUNYIT on Sunday.
