(Buffalo, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's soccer team received goals from four different players as they downed Cazenovia College 4-2 in the second round of the D'Youville College Labor Day tournament in Buffalo on Sunday. The Roos improved to 1-2.
SUNY Canton opened the scoring 1:45 into the game when
Melissa Campoverde (New York, N.Y.)scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Stephanie Clark (Natick, Mass.).
The Wildcats tied the game less than a minute later off a goal from Ashley Paquin.
The Roos broke open the game and took control netting three goals in the first five minutes of the second half.
Kirsten Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.), Angie Waryasz (Lowville, N.Y.), and
Chelsea Allen (Marcellus, N.Y.) all scored during that decisive stretch.
Teresa Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and
Molly O'Connor (Gansevoort, N.Y.) each had an assist.
SUNY Canton out shot the Wildcats 16-6 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Ricci Celia (Essex Junction, Vt.) notched two saves to earn her first win with SUNY Canton.
Megan McDermott also scored for Cazenovia and Nalia Bouley and Brittany Wescott combined to make seven saves.
