The SUNY Canton Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is forming a cookbook with the collection of recipes from our student-athletes, their families, and the campus community. 


These recipes from our community will show the diversity of our entire campus population! Once assembled, the cookbook will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting SUNY Canton SAAC programming and initiatives. Click here for more information

The SUNY Canton Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will work to uphold the ROO 9 Pillars of Character and display a positive image to the campus, community and other students. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will strive to ensure equality and success for all student-athletes, both academically and athletically while promoting unity and school pride.

Purpose:

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee was formed with the purpose to:

* Promote communication between athletic administration and student-athletes

*Provide feedback and insight into athletic department issues and generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletic department formulation of policies

*Provide insight into the student-athlete experience at SUNY Canton

*Promote and encourage all student-athletes towards the pursuit of excellence in the classroom and the pursuit of excellence in athletics

*Foster and promote the ideals of sound character in concert with the NAIA Champions of Character Program and the SUNY Canton Student-Athlete Code of Conduct

*Build a sense of community, spirit and pride among all athletic teams and within the general student population and faculty/staff

*Foster and promote the ideal of civic responsibility and civic service through community service projects and initiatives within the local community

*Create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees (e.g. student government)

*Promote a positive student-athlete image on and off campus

Athletes of the Week
Carolina Olivares
Softball
Carolina gets the nod after batting an impressive .882 in a four-game sweep of Vermont Technical College.  

The junior was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after she belted three doubles and two triples, drove in 15 runs and scored 10 times.  

She went 4-for-4 twice, the second time finishing with seven RBIs, and she had four hits in three out of the four games.

Olivares leads the conference batting .594.  She is second in triples (2), third in RBIs (16) and tied for fifth in doubles with three.

Baseball
Matthew receives the award after batting .667 in six games this week finishing with five RBIs and four runs.  

He was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in a 6-5 loss to St. Michael’s College.  He also went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs in an 8-5 win over Vermont Technical College.

In addition he struck out eight batters and allowed just five hits in another 11-1 win over the Green Knights.

Fallon is batting .393 with four doubles, a triple and five RBIs.  He's one of the top pitchers in the conference as he is second in both strikeouts (18) and opponents batting average (.234) and third in both earned-run average (6.04) and innings pitched (22.1).
