(Concord, N.H.)- The No. 3 SUNY Canton women's basketball team lost in the championship game of the Sunrise Conference tournament as they fell to top-seeded University of Maine at Fort Kent 86-49 on Sunday at New Hampshire Technical Institute.  The Roos end the season 12-13.

(Concord, N.H.)- No. 3 SUNY Canton provided the first upset in the Sunrise Conference basketball championships as they upended No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle 63-51 Saturday at New Hampshire Technical Institute.  The Roos improved to 12-12 overall and will face No. 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

(Canton, N.Y.)- Junior forward Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) of the women's basketball team has been named the Player of the Year in the Sunrise Conference.  Sophomore Emily Bush (Heuvelton, N.Y.) and senior Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) were also recognized for academic achievement.

Carolina gets the nod after batting an impressive .882 in a four-game sweep of Vermont Technical College.  

The junior was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after she belted three doubles and two triples, drove in 15 runs and scored 10 times.  

She went 4-for-4 twice, the second time finishing with seven RBIs, and she had four hits in three out of the four games.

Olivares leads the conference batting .594.  She is second in triples (2), third in RBIs (16) and tied for fifth in doubles with three.

Baseball
Matthew receives the award after batting .667 in six games this week finishing with five RBIs and four runs.  

He was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week after going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in a 6-5 loss to St. Michael’s College.  He also went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs in an 8-5 win over Vermont Technical College.

In addition he struck out eight batters and allowed just five hits in another 11-1 win over the Green Knights.

Fallon is batting .393 with four doubles, a triple and five RBIs.  He's one of the top pitchers in the conference as he is second in both strikeouts (18) and opponents batting average (.234) and third in both earned-run average (6.04) and innings pitched (22.1).
